Type I And ll Universal Barricades

Generally speaking, there are several classifications of barricades. Type III, type II, and type I barricades are commonly used where work vehicles are present, around heavy equipment, for road closings, and detours. Distinct advantages are, however, characteristic of each variety of barricade. For a particular purpose, each was designed differently.

But, there are other types of barricades used for multiple reasons. Some of these include the following:

  • Expanding length barricades
  • A-frame barricades (type I, type II)
  • Traffic cones
  • Construction barrels/drums/traffic barrels
  • Jersey barriers
  • Delineators
  • Safety signs

Let’s take a look at type I and type II barricades for clarification.

What Are Type I and ll Universal Barricades?

Type I barricades – Used for safety related purposes like road construction or to block excavations, flashing lights are fitted onto this type of barricade. They resemble a sawhorse and may also be referred to as a waffle board barricade. It can be flattened/folded when not in use.

Type II barricades – These barricades are easy to handle and lightweight. To meet specific requirements and needs, they are specially engineered and built to last. Typically, two sizes exist with type II barricades: 36-inch and 24-inch widths. They can also have fluted or extruded plastic panels from 12 inches to 8 inches.

The Benefits of Type I and ll Universal Barricades

Type I barricades – On either side of the frame, these barricades have one reflective rail. Their flashing light makes them more noticeable than those without. Even at night, these barricades are likely to stand out. Their collapsible nature allows them to be transported in an easier manner than bulkier, non-collapsible barricades.

Type II barricades – On either side of the frame, two reflective rails can be found these barricades. They are considered sturdier than type I barricades (but not as sturdy as type III barricades). They demonstrate the same benefits that type I barricades offer in the way of being collapsible and attached light.

Applications of Type I and ll Universal Barricades

As suggested earlier, barricades are placed where heavy equipment is being used, to detour traffic, to completely close off access to a road or building, and more. The basic purpose of a barricade, no matter what the type, is to protect drivers and people from potential dangers. Barricades can also come in the form of traffic barrels, portable fences, crowd control event barriers, portable event barriers, and others. Different barriers suit different needs.

Type I and type II barricades are perfect in urban areas, suburban areas, roadways, or for public work projects in parks, etc.
